Re: Windrush.
It's obvious to all of us that the Windrush generation and their descendants are responsible for a lot of violence, mostly inflicted on themselves. And if they improved our culture so much why do we have the phenomena of white flight?

If the white population has to own its past and face up to their 'problematic' attitudes then why do those same moral guardians not want to hold the Windrush generation up to the same high moral standards. Instead they sanctify their history to use them as a tool to attack their idealogical opponents. "Look what you did to these poor West Indian people".

Hermit you've taken the word wind rush and made it sound like a breeze.....it wasn't.....for starters Indians,Pakistanis & Bangledeshis when they came over in later droves were given priority by the councils for housing......the Windrush generation struggled to get rental properties....they had to wait for other black folk to get on the housing ladder before renting became an easier issue.

Re: Windrush.
They were the same as everyone else who ever came here to work; the Irish, Indian, Pakistanis, Banglas, Greeks, Italians etc They came because the work, money and lifestyle here was better than they could get at home and by and large, if they bought their terraced house in Peckham, they sold it for a fortune down the line.

The difference with the Windrush is that at this point in our history we are intent on infantilising black people and treating them like toddlers by praising everything they do to the hilt. Making a massive deal out of a boat from the Windies is the equivalent of a posh mum pretending that little Hector is a rocket scientist because he nibbled on his kale.

They came at the invitation of the government as Britain needed workers and rebuilding after the second World War.
Imagine institutions like the NHS would have been in a bit of a disarray otherwise.
Different times so they faced some outrageous racism.
Even before Westhamonline was invented

As said as Commonwealth citizens they were coming to help THE OLD COUNTRY
Believe Australia's contribution was to send Bradman and his invincibles in 1948 to teach England to play cricket again.

Re: Windrush.
There's a distinct lack of gratitude here.

The Windrush people sacrificed everything to built our city up from a backwater that nobody had ever heard of into the globally important metropolis it is today. Every advance in our living standards, our culture and the city's economy is down to those civic-minded heroes.

There should be portraits of them in every school, statues on public buildings. Streets should be named after them.

I hate to think what a crime-infested hellhole this city would have become if not for their descendants enriching it.

God bless them and their allies.

I think.i hit a nerve. Everything you post is a dig at foreigners and non whites you are WHO'S very own Enoch Powell.
If they are on ads you moan, if they come over perfectly legitimately you moan. I just told you as commonwealth citizens they were well within their rights to be here.

Now go and have a lie down and watch some Alf Garnett ...there's a good lad.

No, the fact that you constantly post race-baiting articles against black people makes you racist.

Were you abused by a man of colour when you were a child?

Re: Windrush.
They were NOT invited over.

The ship was half full so the owners put an ad in local papers offering cheap tickets to the UK.

This is available to be seen on the Wikipedia page of the “ empire Windrush “

It is total lies to say we needed people to help rebuild the country. The unemployment rate in the Caribbean was 25% and the population was growing.

These people came here for a better life but they were not invited by the British government.

I would argue that we have more to thank the Irish for than the West Indians.

Darlo Debs 11:11 Fri Jun 23
Re: Windrush.
They were invited over and I think.i am right in.thinking had the right to come over any way as Commwealth citizens. There were shortages in British transport and the relatively newly formed NHS. Oh and god forbid we might help some prisoners of war.

I swear if you'd have been around in 1939 you'd have been one of Oswald Mosely's foot soldiers.

Well done though we needed someone to.take up.Golden Oldies slot as site commandant.

Re: Windrush.
Oh and history debunked is a superb watch.

The Windrush was not the first ship to bring immigrants from the Caribbean.

The people on board were not invited over to fill up vacancies.

None of the people were needed to fill a shortage in the armed forces as said by the BBC, Britain still had conscription at the point so there was no shortage.

The BBC also reported that 500 people stepped off the boat, there was actually over 1000 including 100s of Poles who had been prisoners of war but the BBC decided to air brush these people out of history.

If you want historical facts then watch history debunked don’t listen to the MSM.

twoleftfeet 10:44 Fri Jun 23
Re: Windrush.
The way the MSM are reporting it is that after the war the natives of the UK were just sitting on their arses letting the country go to wrack and ruin and then this boat load of pioneers came and rebuilt the country with their own bare hands.

Nothing about them all being economic migrants that have been paid for the work they did.

The way you said it was like it was their fault because they didn't get a passport. And that isn't true.

Yes they could have avoided a lot of bullshit if they did get one. But then that just goes along with the whole "white people will kick us out one day" thing that we've all heard growing up. And most people never really believed that.

Oh well...

Thats bollocks though isn't it? Which is why the govt have apologised and they are meant to get compensation.

Its got nothing to do with getting passports because these people were born before 1983 when the law changed.

They were British citizens by law but couldn't prove it because our own government destroyed their records. The records were destroyed by Labour because no one at that point would have thought we'd have a govt evil enough to use that loophole to deport people who had been in this country for 50 yrs+ in some cases.

Absolute evil.

But hey.. it's all their fault because all Jamaicans are lazy like some Lilt advert. ffs

bruuuno 12:09 Fri Jun 23
Re: Windrush.
I know people affected by this. They were told clearly and repeatedly for years that they had to get a uk passport sorted or this could happen. But being Jamaicans many of them couldn’t be arsed. Soon come
